Jolly Roger

„Pirates were the rock stars of the 18th century"
Johnny Depp

Jolly Rogerwas formed in August 2007 under the above motto by singer/guitarist Joe Roger and drummer Titus Glamchild – both ex-Dust'n'Bones members (a Hungarian Guns'n'Roses tribute band), guitarist Mikky Slade (ex-Disco Express), and bass guitarist/singer Pocky Demon from the Kiss Forever Band (a Hungarian Kiss tribute band).

The band prepared its first recordings in an old basement. Pocky then showed the songs to our label, and we instantly got them on board. The self-titled album ‘Jolly Roger’ was released in January 2008 featuring eleven songs. A video was shot to the song ‘Jolly Roger’ in the summer of 2008 on a genuine old pirate ship in the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. The Hungarian music channels played this video for a very long time. As for the band’s debut concert, Jolly Roger were special guests at the gig of the original KISS drummer Eric Singer’s new band ESP in Budapest. A line of gigs followed this debut, where the audience surely felt like at a lair of pirates. Around this time, the band decided to replace Titus with a temporary drummer, until they could find someone who would fit in the band better.

Meanwhile, the recordings of the second album began. The band felt that a solo singer front man would fire up the crowd better, so Pocky and Mikky suggested Sidd, the singer of Holiday Crüe (a Mötley Crüe tribute), who has also gained reputation in several other bands such as Hollywood Rose, CandyShop, and Helldorado. After a few gigs as a guest of the band, Sidd joined Jolly Roger in the summer of 2009. In September, the band shot their second video called ‘El Diablo’, featuring Titus on drums once more. Soon after they filmed the video, Váry ‘Starchild’ Zoltán, ‘the Paul Stanley of Kiss Forever Band’ and former drummer of legendary Hungarian rock band Sing-Sing, joined Jolly Roger on a permanent basis.

In 2011, the long-awaited second album was released with the title ‘El Diablo’, including 11 tracks. The album was also released  in English, so the band is now ready to sail out on international waters.
